Thanks to some very generous private donations and a matching grant from the Maine Community Foundation, the first years of Presque Isle newspapers - previously available only on microfilm - have now been digitized and are fully viewable to anyone anywhere with an Internet connection. They might take a minute to load, so patience will be your ally in that. :) Please let us know if you have any questions. The next set - approximately through the 1930s - are currently being digitized. http://turner.advantage-preservation.com/

Good morning! This is Lisa in Reference. :) We have a special new project starting in Local History, and we would love your help. The Library would like to compile a collection of local sayings: colloquialisms, unique euphemisms, words or turns of phrase that seem to be special to Northern Maine. You can post them here if you like, or email them to [email protected]. If you have the rights and permissions to any written works that use these phrases, we would love to talk to you about that as well. :) Thank you!

With the new site, will patrons be able to return non-Kindle books before they expire from the we page, or will this still not be possible without downloading it to a device first?
