On this we shift our spotlight to some incredible women in STEM.
Did you know that 3 women were honored with Nobel prizes in STEM fields?

Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier and Dr. Jennifer A. Doudna were awarded for their work in chemistry. These women worked with DNA and RNA to develop a genetic editing method called Crispr-Cas9. This method is now commonly used in DNA laboratories and in experimental treatments for sickle cell disease and cancer therapies. Dr. Charpentier and Dr. Doudna are now the seventh and eighth women to be honored with a Nobel prize in chemistry.

Dr. Andrea Ghez was honored for her work to prove the presence of a supermassive blackhole at the center of our galaxy. As the fourth women to be awarded with a Nobel prize in Physics, Dr. Ghez has also worked to inspire more women to join the field.

To leave you with a quote from Dr Ghez, "It's a field that has so many pleasures, and if you're passionate about the science, there is so much that can be done." (The New York Times)
