The City compost site will open for the 2026 season on April 15th. Hours will remain the same as last year: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week. Due to rising costs associated with mulching and chipping materials, a permit fee will be implemented this year for residents. The cost is $20 for residents and $55 for non-residents to use the site for the year.

In 2021, Wisconsin DNR regulations required the City to discontinue burning at the compost site. Since then, the cost of grinding materials has increased significantly—from $9,092 in 2021 to $21,230 in 2025. Permit fees will be used to help offset these operational costs. Permits may be purchased at City Hall or online through the City’s payment system at:

🚨Pancake Breakfast CANCELLED for Sunday, March 15 🚨

❄️Due to the winter storm expected to move through the area, the Prescott Fire Department has made the decision to cancel this Sunday’s pancake breakfast (March 15).

Out of an abundance of caution for everyone traveling — and to ensure our crews are ready to respond to any community needs during the storm — we felt this was the safest call.

📢Please help us SPREAD THE WORD by sharing this post so folks don’t head out in the snow looking for breakfast at the fire hall. 📣

The good news is pancake season isn’t over yet — we still have two more Sundays to go. 🥞

We’ll be firing the griddles back up on March 22 and March 29, and we can’t wait to see everyone back at the fire hall.

And of course, the Easter Bunny🐰will be visiting on March 29, with prizes and photo opportunities for the kids, plus Easter ham and an egg topping bar. It’s always our biggest breakfast of the year and we’re ready for the crowd.

Stay safe during the storm, and we’ll see everyone Sunday, March 22.

⛸️❄️ The ice skating rink is in great condition!

With the upcoming weather looking favorable, now is a great time to get out and enjoy some skating. We encourage residents to take advantage of these excellent conditions while they last.

Please note:
• The warming house will not be open due to the condition of the building due to vandalism in the past.
• The rink lights will not be operational this season but are planned to be reconnected for next year.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding. Bundle up and enjoy the rink!

Update: The paving contractor has pushed up their schedule and as a result the boat launch will be closed until Tuesday, October 14 to pave the lot through this weekend. Sorry again for the inconvenience as we work to get this project wrapped up, any updates we will let you know!

The City of Prescott Boat Launch will be open starting today until October 13 as we await contractors to arrive back on site to finish the improvements. We apologize for any frustration or inconvenience caused during the construction process and the delay that resulted in the river levels rising in August. We appreciate your continued patience.
