Effective February 1, 2026, the TSA will charge a $45 fee for passengers who don’t have a REAL ID or another acceptable ID (like a passport).
TSA will require passengers without REAL ID (or a valid Passport) to use the new TSA Confirm.ID system for identity verification in order to fly domestically.
This $45 fee covers one 10-day travel period, after which it must be paid again. The fee helps cover the cost of this identity check for those without proper documentation, in the hopes of encouraging everyone to get a REAL ID or alternative ID to avoid delays.
