Found/Unclaimed Property and Evidence Notice

The following list of items held by the PPD as Found or Unclaimed Propery is posted at City Hall, the Public Safety Building and online (Facebook). Persons wishing to claim any listed items will have until Nov. 30th to contact the PPD Crime Scene to begin the claim process. Any and all items not claimed by Nov. 30th will be determined to be abandoned and disposed of accordingly. See the below list and instructions for further direction.

CSI is unable to print fingerprint cards at this time. You can still contact CSI to schedule an appointment to have prints scanned, but printed cards will be delayed. We will update when printing capabilities are restored.

PPD CSI - Public Notice of Services

NOTE: ALL SERVICES ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY - CALL OR EMAIL CSI FOR SCHEDULING (SEE INTRO OR BIO FOR CONTACT INFO AND OPERATING HOURS)

Fingerprinting (Live Scan) Services
• Fee: $10.00 - Includes fingerprinting and two (2) completed FD-258 Applicant (Blue) Fingerprint Cards
• Additional Cards: $5.00 each
• PPD does NOT digitally transmit fingerprints to State/FBI

Evidence & Property Release
• Releases will require a government-issued ID and proof of ownership prior to release.
• If retrieving property from someone currently incarcerated, a signed release letter must be sent by the owner to the PPD and lists who may pick up the property.
• All firearm releases will also require a criminal history background check to be conducted on the owner/person requesting release.
• All evidence related to a criminal case will be held by the PPD until final disposition of said case (including appeal processes) or court order

Unclaimed Evidence/Found Property
• Any property or evidence in possession of the Prattville Police Department where an owner is unable to be located and not subject to hold as evidence in a criminal case will be considered to be "unclaimed evidence/found property".
• A list of unclaimed evidence/found property will be posted at the beginning of each month for a period 30 days at three (3) publicly accessible locations:
- Prattville Public Safety Building (Main Lobby)
- Prattville City Hall (near Municipal Court offices)
- Online posting (PPD CSI - Property and Evidence FB Page)
• To claim posted unclaimed property/evidence, a government-issued ID and proof of ownership must be provided prior to release. Additional steps for fi****ms as listed above.
• Any unclaimed evidence/property not positively claimed within 30 days from being posted will then be considered as "abandoned property" and subject to procedures for destruction or condemnation.
