At 6:00 pm yesterday (7/11/26), your Pine Level Firefighters, along with our automatic aid partners - Marbury Fire Department Friends Page Old Kingston Fire Department Independence Fire Department Booth Volunteer Fire Department Autauga County Rescue Squad, Inc. and Autauga County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 100 blk of Laurel Hill Drive. When our units arrived less than 6 minutes later, they found a pile of household items burning against the residence. Our crews had the fire extinguished in less than 3 minutes after arriving, preventing nothing more than minor damage to the residence. The cause of the fire was determined to be a malfunction of a lithium ion battery attached to an e-scooter, which went into thermal runaway and ignited nearby objects. A special thanks to the neighbor who saw and reported the fire, saving his neighbor’s home. Lithium ion batteries require special handling and safety precautions.
