Weather Alert: Summer School Canceled Thursday, June 18

Due to the potential impacts from Tropical Storm Arthur, which could bring significant rainfall, gusty winds, and localized flooding to our area, Ascension Public Schools will cancel all summer school classes on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

In addition, all schools and district offices will be closed with no activities allowed. Twelve-month employees will remain on call as needed to support district operations.

The safety of our students, employees, and families remains our top priority. We encourage everyone to monitor local weather forecasts and use caution when traveling, especially in areas prone to flooding.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if necessary through our official communication channels and on our website, AscensionSchools.org.

🎒 Parents: Please Check Before You Customize Backpacks! 🎒

As families prepare for the new school year, please keep Ascension Parish's clear backpack guidelines in mind before purchasing decals, monograms, name labels, or custom designs.

✅ Small personalization is allowed.

❌ Large decals, stickers, monograms, name labels, graphics, or patterns that obstruct visibility are not permitted.

📏 Any personalization on a clear backpack must be no larger than the allowable privacy bag size: 6.5" x 4.5".

Please note that even multiple small graphics or patterns that cover an area larger than 6.5" x 4.5" are not allowed.

We want to help families avoid purchasing customized backpacks that may not meet district requirements.

Thank you for helping ensure students start the school year prepared and in compliance with parish guidelines! 💚

Last week of school fun in Ms. Deras’ 3rd grade class 🌪️ We put our engineering skills to the test by building hurricane-proof structures using Play-Doh, popsicle sticks, paper, and tape. Then came the big test to see which designs could withstand the storm… swipe to the end to see the aftermath!
