Sauk Prairie Ambulance The Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association was established in 1969 to provide emergency prehospital care

The Sauk Prairie Ambulance Association was established in 1969 to provide emergency prehospital care and transportation to an advanced care facility. The first ambulance and crews began serving the community in 1969. The Association is currently an EMT-Intermediate Tech service. The Association's district consists of the villages of Sauk City, Prairie du Sac and Merrimac; the townships of Merrimac

, Prairie du Sac, and Roxbury; and parts of the townships of Troy, Honey Creek, Sumpter and West Point. By a contract, those municipalities have delegated management of the Association to an Ambulance Service Commission. The Commission consists of a representative from each municipality and township. The Commission governs the administrative and financial aspects of the Association.

Today is day 5 of EMS week and our focus is to promote Stop the Bleed, public CPR programs and other programs It doesn’t matter how quickly EMS professionals get to a scene—bystanders will almost always be there first. Save-A-Life Day empowers the general public to learn and apply steps that can be taken to help save a life.

Were you aware that Sauk Prairie Ambulance provides CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed courses at our station? These are open to anyone in our community, and we would love to see you at the next one!

Today is day 4 of EMS week!

Today's focus is EMS for Children.

While this sounds like we are thinking about how to introduce EMS to kids and show them that we are there to help, the focus is actually to highlight the special needs of caring for children. EMS for Children Day highlights the distinctive physiological and psychological aspects of caring for children and serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about improving specialized care for children in pre-hospital and acute care settings.

We are lucky *knock on wood* that we don't have a ton of pediatric calls. As much as we ADORE kiddos of every shape and size, peds calls are difficult for everyone involved. Thankfully, we train and continue to grow our knowledge when it comes to pediatric pre-hospital medicine so we can be as prepared as possible and provide the best care we can for our littles.

Yesterday was EMS week Day 3 and our theme was EMS Safety.

The point of EMS safety day is to promote Safety for the EMS professional, the patient, and the public. Safety Day encourages first responders to focus on risk and prevention rather than possible negative outcomes and aims to advance safety measures for both the community and the profession.

One thing we really try to focus on at Sauk Prairie Ambulance is safety on the road.

PLEASE remember- if you see an ambulance coming towards you or coming up behind you, pull over to the right and STOP. Also- if you are driving past a scene on the side of the road, SLOW DOWN and move over!

Today is the beginning of EMS week!

Our theme this week is "Improving outcomes, together." Every day of the week has a separate, significant focus, and today's focus is"to promote the health, wellness, and resilience of EMS professionals and patients. Health, Wellness, and Resilience Day highlights the need to recognize and care for the health and wellness of EMS professionals and patients and share ideas on strengthening resilience. It is an opportunity to step back and take care of ourselves through self-care and care for our fellow EMS professionals and the patients in our care every day."

So, today we hope that you all can get some rest, relax, and enjoy your day with one or several of your favorite things!
