Dear JCLC Families,
We are excited to welcome you to JCLC Eagle Family Day on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). We look forward to sharing the accomplishments of your cadets and celebrating a successful week of leadership development and training.
Please review the following important information prior to your arrival:
PARKING
Upon arrival at VMI, please follow the posted JCLC Family Day parking signs. These signs will direct you to the designated family parking areas. We ask that all visitors park only in authorized locations to ensure traffic flow and safety throughout the event.
FAMILY CANOPY/TENT AREA
Attached to this email is a Field Day schematic that identifies the designated Family Canopy Area. Families who plan to bring tents, canopies, chairs, or other items should set up only within the designated area shown on the map. This will allow everyone to enjoy the activities while maintaining clear access to competition and training areas.
MEALS
Families are welcome to eat in Crozet Hall (the VMI dining facility) during meal periods; however, all visitors must pay for their own meals. Meal purchases are handled directly by VMI Dining Services.
FIELD DAY SCHEDULE
0645 – Morning Formation (Parade Field)
0700–0800 – Breakfast (Crozet Hall)
0815 – Movement to Field Day Site
0830–0900 – Field Day Brief (Parade Field – Marshall Statue)
0900–1200 – Field Day Activities
Cadets will rotate through six competitive stations including:
• Raider Challenge Course
• Meet Your Army
• Drill and Color Guard Competition
• JROTC Knowledge Bowl/STEM Challenge
• VMI Museum Tour
• Team Games
1200–1300 – Lunch (Crozet Hall)
1300–1400 – Rest Period
1400–1700 – Field Day Activities Continue
1700–1800 – Company Tug-of-War Competition
1800–1900 – Supper (Crozet Hall)
1930 – Closing Ceremony (Mallory Hall 135)
The Family Canopy Area is located adjacent to the primary Field Day activities on the Parade Field, allowing families to observe many of the day's events while remaining in a designated spectator area.

Quick Update from JCLC Camp Eagle

Good evening Powhatan JROTC CAMO Eagle Parents,
I wanted to send a quick note to let you all know that the kids arrived safely, have transitioned smoothly into camp life, and are doing fantastic!
They’ve already been jumping straight into training, stepping up into leadership roles, and keeping motivation high. Most importantly, they are having a great time, working as a team, and representing Powhatan High School incredibly well.
The days are packed and they are working hard, but spirits are high. We will keep keeping an eye on them, and we’ll update you if anything changes.

Proud is an understatement!

Tonight was Scholarship Night for Powhatan High School, and we could not be more thrilled to celebrate four of our outstanding cadets who have earned incredible opportunities for their futures.

Their hard work, leadership, and dedication have truly paid off.

Please join us in congratulating:

• Mackenzie Aeschlimann – Heading to Liberty University!
• Coleman Smith – Heading to West Point!
• Camden Chewning – Heading to the Virginia Military Institute (VMI)!
• Addison May – Joining the United States Coast Guard!

These cadets represent the very best of our program, our school, and our community. Whether they are heading to college, a military academy, or entering directly into the service to protect our nation, we know they are going to do amazing things.

Thank you to the families, teachers, and everyone who has supported them along the way. The future is incredibly bright for these young leaders!

Today, 7 April 2026, Emma proved once again why she is in a league of her own by winning the Cadet of the Month board!
