The roadway is temporarily open while crews await Cobb EMC to begin work on the damaged power pole. The roadway may need to be closed again once repairs begin.

At this time, there is no estimated time for the repairs to be completed.

Please avoid the area of Macedonia Road at Red Rose Drive. The roadway is currently shut down due to a vehicle collision involving a power pole.

Please use an alternate route and allow emergency crews room to work safely.

We are happy to report that the missing female we previously asked the community to help locate has been FOUND and safely returned to her parents! 🙏🏾💙

🚨 COMMUNITY UPDATE — NO THREAT TO THE PUBLIC 🚨

We know many of you noticed a heavy police presence this afternoon in the area of Barrett Parkway, Macedonia Road, and Powder Springs Road.

Here’s what happened:

Powder Springs Police Officers, with assistance from the Cobb County Police Department, were actively searching the area for Issac Kindle, who had escaped law enforcement custody from Douglas County, GA.

We’re happy to report that Kindle has been located and is BACK IN CUSTODY. He has since been turned over to Douglas County.

✅ There is NO KNOWN THREAT to the community at this time.

You may still see officers in the area and experience some traffic delays as we work to clear the scene and get traffic moving normally again. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while officers worked to bring this situation to a safe conclusion.

A huge thank you to our law enforcement partners who assisted with the search and to our community for working with us while we handled the situation.

Issac Kindle is in custody. The community is safe. Now bear with us while we get this traffic cleared up! 🚔

Our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences to City of Atlanta Police Department following the tragic loss of Recruit Moses Russ.

Recruit Russ answered the call to serve, a calling that requires courage, sacrifice, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to others. Although his journey toward becoming an Atlanta Police Officer was cut far too short, his dedication to public service and the impact he made will not be forgotten.

The law enforcement community is a family, and when one agency hurts, we all hurt. 💙

From all of us at the Powder Springs Police Department, we send our heartfelt prayers, strength, and support to Recruit Russ’ family and friends, Recruit Class #302, the Atlanta Police Academy staff, and every member of the Atlanta Police Department during this incredibly difficult time.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Joe Bennett, who was officially sworn in as Chief of Police AND Assistant City Manager for the City of Powder Springs - News and Events👏🏽🚔🏛️

Chief Bennett brings an incredible combination of leadership, education, experience, and public service to these roles.

🎓 Chief Bennett is a graduate of Reinhardt College, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management and Leadership, and Columbus State University, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Public Administration from Valdosta State University.

His leadership development includes:
🔹 Mercer University Public Safety Leadership Institute
🔹 Georgia Law Enforcement Command College – Class 50
🔹 FBI National Academy – 248th Session
🔹 Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government

Before joining Powder Springs, Chief Bennett served as Chief of Police for the City of Smyrna and later as Smyrna’s City Administrator, bringing valuable experience from both sides of public safety and municipal leadership.

🚨 BINGO, BUT MAKE IT PUBLIC SAFETY! 🚨😂

This past Saturday, the Powder Springs Police Department had the pleasure of joining Cobb County Admin Community Service for their BINGO event at Silver Comet Village! 🎱🎉

And listen we thought we were just coming to fellowship with the community, but once those BINGO cards came out, things got SERIOUS! 😂👀

We had an amazing time sharing laughs, making memories, and spending quality time with some incredible members of our community. 💙 These are the moments that remind us that community policing is about more than the badge it’s about showing up, building relationships, and having a little fun along the way!

A huge THANK YOU to Cobb County Admin Community Service and Silver Comet Village for allowing us to be part of such a great event!
