Joining an American Legion post as a young veteran to create change involves finding a local chapter, signing up, and stepping up to modernize its mission and activities.

HOW TO JOIN A POST
Check eligibility:
Ensure you served on active duty during a qualifying war era or have an honorable discharge.

Find a local post:
Visit the American Legion Join Page to search for nearby posts in your area.

Sign up:
Join online through the official portal or visit a physical post with your DD214 military service record to apply in person.

Attend a meeting:
Go to the next scheduled post meeting to introduce yourself and meet current members.

HOW TO CREATE CHANGE

Join committees:
Offer to help with community outreach, youth programs, or new member recruitment.

Propose modern events:
Suggest family-friendly activities, community service projects, or specialized hobby groups to attract other younger veterans.

Run for leadership:
Run for post offices like Adjutant or Commander to directly guide the chapter's future and update old routines.

If you share your city or zip code, I can help you locate the nearest American Legion posts to get started.
