Roosevelt Fire District - Engine Company 2 The Roosevelt Fire District is a 100% Volunteer Department that provides Fire & EMS services to appox. 40 sq. miles in Hyde Park. There is a job for everyone.

We Operate out of 5 stations within the town specifically, Station Two is located at 265 Cream Street. The Dedicated Members are available to respond to the needs of the community 24 hours a day year round. In 2020, the department received over 1,900 calls for service. Please feel free to stop by any station at 7 pm every Monday for information about joining. We are seeking Firefighters, EMT's, &

On Thursday afternoon, volunteers from the Roosevelt Fire Department visited a local daycare to teach the children about fire safety.
Firefighter Amanda shared several safety tips such as: know your home address, plan two ways out of the house, and stay low and go when leaving a smoke or burning building.
The children asked questions, watched Firefighter Amanda put on her gear, and then went outside to explore the fire truck.
We thank the volunteers for sharing these important safety lessons with the children.
We also thank the daycare for its warm welcome. We enjoyed our visit!

Congratulations Ray Nichols!!

Effective August 3, 2026, Deputy Fire Coordinator Ray Nichols has been promoted to Senior Deputy Fire Coordinator - County Car 8.

The newly created Senior Deputy Fire Coordinator title serves as a senior-level leadership position within the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response – Fire and Rescue Division. This position focuses on building organizational capacity by mentoring and developing new Deputy Fire Coordinators (Battalion-level), providing leadership on projects and initiatives, and supporting overall countywide fire coordination.

Ray brings an incredible amount of leadership experience and institutional knowledge from his impressive 38 year tenure as a Dutchess County Deputy Fire Coordinator. Additionally, Ray’s command experience as a fire chief provides a unique perspective that our Department continues to value.

My thanks to Deputy Commissioner Scofield and County Fire Coordinator Alfonso for their assistance during this process.
