Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and father figures who show up every day with love, sacrifice, and strength.

Father’s Day means something a little different for me this year, because Danielle and I are overjoyed to share that this October, we’re expecting a baby girl!

I’ve been thinking a lot today about my own dad, and about what he taught me. It’s because of him I know the value of hard work, the importance of keeping your word, and the meaning of sacrifice, service, honor, and unconditional love. So much of who I am, and how I try to move through the world, comes from him.

And now, as I get ready to become a father myself, I feel the weight and the privilege of that responsibility in a whole new way.

I’m running for State Senate because I believe our children deserve better than the world we’ve been handed. I want my daughter to grow up in a world with more kindness, more fairness, and more equality. I want her to see that serving your community matters. That leadership means humility. That patriotism means loving your neighbors enough to fight for them. That building a better future takes work, courage, and sacrifice.

I want her to know that her dad spent every day fighting to leave her a better world than the one he inherited.

And I also know that for so many families, the journey to parenthood can be difficult. Danielle and I know that pain personally. We’ve experienced pregnancy loss, and we know the heartbreak, uncertainty, and grief that so many families carry quietly. So to everyone who is struggling to become a parent, grieving a loss, or carrying that pain today: I see you, I understand, and I stand with you. And I will always fight to make reproductive healthcare free and accessible for every person and family who needs it, because in the richest country in the world, everyone should have the care and support they need to build the family they dream of.

I can’t wait to be a dad. It’s going to be the greatest adventure of my life.
