It's been a big year for the Innovation Lab!

We've hosted and collaborated with programs like CommunityMatters2, GrowingStemz, and Boys & Girls Club — bringing mixed media programming and tools to young people across our community.

That work laid the foundation for what's next: our own in-house workshops, giving young adults direct, hands-on experience with the tools they need to build a portfolio, a resume, and real-world skills. The lab keeps growing and so does what's possible for the youth we serve.

We’re proud to celebrate Sierra Segui, Case Manager at Nubian Directions and board member of Hip Hop Healing, Inc., as part of HUDSY’s 250 Acts of Positive Change!

Sierra supports students every day—helping them earn their GED, connecting them to community resources, and pouring into the whole child so they can build brighter futures. Her work reminds us that true education goes beyond the classroom and meets young people where they are.

15 years and counting 🪴

For over a decade, Nubian Directions II has partnered with the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) to give Poughkeepsie’s young people more than a paycheck — a purpose.

Through the Gardening Project, youth participants are placed in real jobs beautifying local gardens across the city, learning hands-on skills in horticulture, landscaping, and community stewardship while getting paid for their work.

Knock Knock! Its the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Poughkeepsie, and they came to our Innovation Lab! They experienced Podcasting,
3D Printers, Gaming, and VR Headsets all in just a couple of hours.

They were also able to take home two 3D printed items, as a reminder of what they can create themselves. Let us know if you're interested in touring or bringing a program over to learn some new technology!
