A sincere and earnest THANK YOU To ALL of the amazing 2nd Ward citizens who signed my nominating petition. I am officially on the ballot! The process was delayed because one of my opponents, who I will not name but state that he is the incumbent 2nd Ward Councilmember, challenged my nominating petitions and not only are ALL of the signatures legitimate but I turned in almost three times the number needed. So, fall back opponent and let me rock out so I can win and help make the 2nd Ward a better place. As we kick off my campaign here’s a little information about me and why I am running.
I was born and raised in the city of Poughkeepsie. I’ve worked in the banking industry for 23 years. I have been involved in numerous professional and community organization and have been very active in my community. I am running for the 2nd Ward seat on the City of Poughkeepsie Common Council because I believe we must focus our energy on being a part of providing solutions, not just complaining about the problems.
When canvassing, I spoke with many of my 2nd Ward constituents. They expressed that there is lack of involvement on their part because they have lost confidence in some elected officials. They’ve become dissatisfied because of unfulfilled promises made by candidates when campaigning. They stated they've lost hope because once the candidate is elected, they don’t see their Councilmember meeting their needs and taking great strides to build up their ward. I just want to put it out there that Kanell Harvard is true to his word and will change this narrative. I am solution-driven and I have the ability to manage conflict tactfully. I operate from a proactive not reactive stance. I understand that being flexible and adapting to the needs of the constituents in the 2nd Ward will take more than rhetoric spoken when campaigning. Second Ward residents, deserve a leader on the Common Council who will focus on the betterment of the 2nd Ward and the overall betterment of the City of Poughkeepsie. VOTE Kanell Harvard for 2nd Ward Councilmember on June 27th. Be INFORMED – Be EMPOWERED!
