Finish Strong’s program development is based on the 2019 gap analysis published as part of the Path to Promise Action Plan. Path-to-Promise is a multi-year effort to ensure all young people in Dutchess County have the assets they need to achieve their full potential as they grow into young adults. Top needs highlighted in the gap analysis include:
•Mental health services to address youth trauma
as well as other age appropriate struggles such as adjustment disorders, emotional regulation, sexual identity issues, turbulence in the home, and substance abuse/at risk behavior.
•Safe spaces after school and on the weekends where youth can relax, participate in activities and be part of a community, particularly youth that are not involved in competitive sports.
•Special populations programming that builds on strengths and address challenges for Black/Latinx, homeless, and criminal justice involved youth.
•Mentoring that provides safe and relatable adults to support youth needs along their journey to young adulthood.
•Family connections that provides a network of support, education and information so that caregivers have access to a wide range of resources for in the home and community. Finish Strong's program model and organizational mission, vision and staff have been cultivated with each one of the above listed gaps in mind. We strive to provide youth with an enjoyable, unique experience of wellness that builds resiliency and empowers personal agency.
