Passing the Torch: Four Generations of Dedicated Service

Today was a historic day for the Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion family. We had the distinct honor of watching our Battalion Commander, LTC Brandon P. Salmeri, administer the Oath of Enlistment to his own son Wyatt.

By raising his right hand, Wyatt becomes the fourth consecutive generation of his family to proudly wear the United States military uniform. 🦅

There is no greater testament to the values of our nation than when a leader's own child chooses to step up and answer the call to serve. Watching a father swear in his own son bridges the sacred bond of family with the ultimate commitment to country.

Please join us in congratulating both father and son on this momentous day, honoring their legacy of multigenerational service, and wishing our newest Future Soldier the very best as he begins his training!

What a great way to close out the work week! The Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion conducted its quarterly Station Commander & Quarter Level Development (SCQLD), led by CSM Hammond. It was refreshing to see training taken back to the schoolhouse tradition, beginning with the recitation of the Creed of the Noncommissioned Officer. That set the tone for a day focused on leadership, professionalism, accountability, and developing our Station Commanders and leaders.
Throughout the day, we received valuable instruction, shared best practices, and engaged in meaningful discussions that provided positive feedback and practical leadership tools to take back to our teams.
CSM Hammond also introduced the Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion's newest Operations Sergeant Major, SGM Baez. His introduction reflected his enthusiasm, experience, and commitment to helping make the Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion the premier battalion in USAREC. His vision and leadership are sure to have a positive impact across the formation.
By the end of SCQLD, Station Commanders and leaders left feeling empowered, motivated, and ready to lead from the front. It was the perfect way to finish the week and start the next one with renewed purpose and energy.

K6 Philadelphia Metro Company marked a proud moment today with its Change of Command Ceremony. CPT Liam Grimmer stepped into command, following the dedicated leadership of CPT Frank White, with LTC Brandon Salmeri, Mid Atlantic Recruiting Battalion Commander, presiding over the transition.

Moments like this remind us of the leaders who shape our Soldiers, strengthen our teams, and uphold the values of the United States Army. Team Mid Atlantic welcomes CPT Grimmer and extends sincere appreciation to CPT White for his service to the mission and the Philadelphia community.

Today, the Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion family had the distinct honor of celebrating a major career milestone! Please join us in congratulating SSG Thanh Nhan Tran on his well-deserved promotion to Sergeant First Class. 🎉
The auspicious occasion was hosted by our Battalion Commander, LTC Brandon Salmeri, alongside the command staff. In a beautiful and heartfelt moment, SFC Tran’s new rank was officially pinned by his lovely wife, Theresa—a powerful reminder of the incredible families whose love and support are the foundation of our Soldiers' success. ❤️
The ceremony was highlighted by sincere speeches of appreciation from SGM Hammond and our Executive Officer, MAJ Petty, who reflected on SFC Tran’s dedication, hard work, and outstanding leadership.
We capped off a steamy summer Friday afternoon with a delicious lunch and great camaraderie. It was the perfect way to celebrate one of our own.
Congratulations, SFC Tran! We are incredibly proud of your achievements and grateful to have you on the team. 🇺🇸

What an incredible Army Day celebrating America's 250th Birthday! 🇺🇸 There was no better way to honor this historic milestone than representing the U.S. Army at the Jersey City Fireworks celebration.
The Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion, Newark Recruiting Company, and Jersey City Recruiting Station proudly represented the Army throughout the event. The community was incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic about the Army's presence. Attendees challenged themselves at our interactive fitness stations, from the boxing machine and push-up competition to the Army Fitness Test (AFT) deadlift event, while many others enjoyed competing on the Army Gaming Asset, which drew crowds throughout the day and gave visitors another exciting way to engage with Army Soldiers and learn about Army opportunities.
A special shoutout to SSG Zabala, who led the team to a highly successful day by engaging the community, generating numerous leads, and inspiring many individuals to learn more about joining the world's greatest Army.
It was an outstanding day of patriotism, service, and community engagement as we proudly celebrated America's 250th Birthday and showcased the many opportunities the U.S. Army offers to those ready to serve.

The Army's Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion proudly conducted its Change of Command and Change of Responsibility Ceremony on June 30, 2026, at historic Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

LTC Ryan "Joe" Gainey and CSM Isaiah T. Hawkins passed leadership and responsibility to LTC Brandon P. Salmeri and SGM Clifford A. Hammond, respectively, as COL Patrick Douglas presided over the ceremony and the traditional passing of the colors.

Congratulations and best wishes to the outgoing and incoming command teams as they continue their service to Soldiers, families, and communities throughout New Jersey and the Philadelphia region.

MAB staff surprised our amazing command leadership team as we bid them a warm farewell after our last C&S meeting together.
