The end of the school year always brings plenty of goodbyes, but some are a little harder than others. This year, four members of our Cardinal family are retiring: Carolyn Cantrell, Middle School Food Services; Tonja Montgomery, Middle School Food Services Manager; Kathy Pace, Food Services Director; and Alison Williams, High School Dean of Students.

These ladies have given years of their time, heart, and dedication to the students and staff of Pottsboro ISD. Their impact reaches far beyond their job titles, and the care they showed our students each day helped make our schools feel like family.

We are incredibly grateful for their loyalty and service. Their presence will be missed, but the difference they made in the lives of countless Cardinals will continue for years to come.

Over the weekend, Madison McCullough placed 12th in the state in Senior Prepared Agribusiness Speaking at the Texas FFA Association State Leadership Development Events at Tarleton State University.

Public speaking events help students develop confidence, leadership, and communication skills that will serve them long after graduation. We are proud of the way Madison represented Pottsboro FFA and Pottsboro ISD on the state stage.

Keeping our Cardinals safe requires planning, training, and strong partnerships.

Several Pottsboro ISD staff members recently participated in Grayson County reunification training hosted at Sherman ISD. The training brought together school and community partners to practice procedures designed to safely reconnect students with their families following a school-based emergency.

At the May School Board meeting we recognized our golf team for competing at the state tournament, honored track and field athletes who advanced to the regional and state level this season, and celebrated our baseball and softball teams for earning playoff appearances.

We also showed our appreciation to our outgoing board members for their years of service and dedication to Pottsboro ISD before officially swearing in the members elected earlier this month.

Congratulations to all of our students, coaches, and board members.
