⚠️🚒 Training Exercise Notice 🚒⚠️

Residents may notice increased fire department activity, emergency vehicles, personnel, and training smoke coming from the vicinity of the Fire Station this evening 6-9-2026

These activities are part of planned training designed to keep our firefighters prepared for real emergencies. There is no cause for alarm if you see crews operating and training smoke at the Fire Station.

***Please be advised*** Potterville DPW has placed a pressure relief valve on two fire hydrants within the city, one at Lansing Rd/Nelson Rd, and one near Sunset/Gresham Rd. It is normal to see water coming out from these two periodically. Any questions or concerns, please contact Potterville DPW.

With our monthly outdoor warning siren test happening at 1:00pm today, May 2, we’re sharing this to help explain how outdoor warning siren activations work during real emergencies.

In Eaton County, we have 5 siren zones, which are activated based on where the National Weather Service (NWS) draws its warning shape. If the NWS warning shape touches one or more of the siren zones, those zones' sirens will sound. If the warning shape does not touch a siren zone, the sirens will not sound.

Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outside.

We always like to remind people that the outdoor warning sirens are NOT designed to be heard indoors or wake you up. This is why it is important to have multiple ways to receive alerts, warnings, and notifications!
