Water Update.......

We know that some people are still without water and many are experiencing low pressure. We hope to have everything back close to normal by this evening.

Update From PPWA-

The water system will have low pressure issues today. Temporary repairs have been completed to stop the leak at the creek crossing in Porum Landing so that service can be restored to everyone. Due to the major leak, we are now trying to get all of the water towers back to normal levels which is causing the pressure issues as we pump water to the towers. Your patience is appreciated.

From PPWA:

We have a major main line break at a creek crossing off the Dam Rd. in Porum Landing causing a water outage to areas around the Dam Rd. Our crew has been working since the wee hours of the morning, and they have it isolated to the smallest possible area at the moment. If you currently don't have water, you will not have water until repairs are complete. Due to the difficulty of this leak, we have no idea at this time how long repairs will take, but it willl probably be an all day job. As always, repairs will be made ASAP. We will update as possible.

PPWA would like to respond to a recent bashing of our services on local FB pages. Do you remember Paul Harvey and his broadcasts of "Now you know the rest of the story"? We were accused not only of not addressing customer issues, but also of theft of customer property. That is not the way in which PPWA conducts business. A local resident, Latrisha Reed, had issues with being stuck on her property after the rains this past weekend due to issues following work done by a sewer contractor. Prior to this, installation of new sewer lines had already been completed in her area, and the dirt work had been completed. Ms. Reed called last week complaining of sewer issues. She said her sewer hadn't been working correctly since the contractor replaced the lines. She said she had a plumber out who said the issue was on the City side. The contractor was contacted. They immediately responded and spent 7 hours at her property digging up the newly replaced line to determine that the problem wasn't even on the City's end...the problem was on her end! After more questioning, the plumber she said was there, wasn't even a plumber. Still, along with PPWA, they worked to correct her problem and pulled a huge gob of mess out of her personal line. It was determined that her issue was due to not having enough fall on her personal line to allow the sewer to flow correctly. The Contractor then covered everything back up, knowing the ground would have to settle again, and more work would be required. The next day, the named "plumber" was at our office and said he hadn't worked on Ms. Reed's property in several months! So, the weekend passed, and we had several inches of rain where the dirt had not settled yet, and Ms. Reed had issues getting in and out of her property, which is located on City easement, by the way! Ms. Reed says she contacted our office on Friday. Not only do we have no records of contact on Friday, it didn't even rain on Friday to cause an issue. PPWA keeps a person on call 24/7, and two emergency numbers are listed on our after hours recording. No one was contacted. PPWA does have record of her calling Monday morning with the issue. What she doesn't know is that our Water Superintendent immediately went and looked at her property to assess and contact the Contractor so that the situation could be addressed. We also have record of her calling after office hours on Monday and leaving a message. On Tuesday, the Contractor hauled a dump truck load of gravel to her location to address the issue. They also realize that they will probably have to haul more, as the ground will continue to settle. They aren't done yet! Anytime ground is disturbed, it has to settle!

During Ms. Reed and her son's videos, PPWA was even accused of stealing her shale out of her driveway and giving it away! Two dirt piles were shown and mentioned, and neither one contained any shale. The accusation that PPWA would steal from a customer's property, then give it away is just absurd!

PPWA prides itself on top notch customer service by experienced personnel without having to use the F Bomb. We try to go above and beyond to help our customers and the citizens of our area. It takes a village, and we are all in this together. Some are just more honest than others.

AND NOW YOU KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY!!!

From PPWA:

Starting this afternoon, contractors will be in our water district identifying water line and service line materials. They will start in the Town of Porum. If you see crews around your water meter area, it will be the contractors. All vehicles will be marked. You may see vehicles from Cherokee Nation, EPA, SC&A, Bloodhound, Pro-Vac, and WhiteRiver. Work will take approximately 40 days to complete. This is all being done to help complete our EPA mandated Lead Service Line Inventory. These companies are testing some new technologies that could be beneficial nationwide. You can call our office at 918-484-5125 with any questions. Please share this information with your neighbors.
