We remember the lives lost 25 years ago today, as well as those forever changed. 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed.

Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Coast Guard Auxiliarists answered the call to action. By supporting operations in New York Harbor and patrolling ports and critical infrastructure, they provided critical support when needed most.

Eligible Auxiliarists were recognized with the Department of Transportation 9/11 Ribbon for their service in recovery, force protection, and infrastructure security.

Today, we remember those lost and honor all who responded.

Semper Paratus, Always Ready.

This summer a new cohort of boat crew members has been training for their qualification exams. This week trainees and their mentors hit the water to practice towing procedures. Using two Auxiliary boats everyone got some hands-on training on both stern tows and side tows. When our neighbors need help on the water, we will be ready! One of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary missions is to verify the condition and locations of PATONs, or Private Aids to Navigation. Here two boat crew members look up information on markers in Portsmouth Harbor. Making sure these important markers are in place is just one way we keep the waters safe for our communities.

If you are local, you know the old General Sullivan bridge over the Piscataqua River is being demolished. What you may not know is that our boat crew has taken shifts providing a safety patrol on demolition days. Part of our mission is to make sure all of our neighbors are safe on our local waters, no matter what’s happening around them.

Last weekend we provided on the water support during the Nubble Lighthouse Swim. Our boat crew helped to keep the course clear and was ready to assist any swimmers in distress.

One of the highlights of our time at SailBoston was working alongside the “gold side”, as we call the active duty Coast Guard.

During the Parade of Sail we were able to assist USCGC Chadwick on the water. They were kind enough to give their challenge coins to one of our boat crews in exchange.

We are always glad to lend a hand! U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary

And…that’s a wrap! After five days of patrols in support of our boat crew headed home yesterday. We sailed out of Base Boston, up the Massachusetts coast, and back into Portsmouth Harbor. It was our honor to work alongside our active duty Coast Guard teammates during this historic event. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary U.S. Coast Guard Sector Boston USCG Northeast
