Retirees!! Please keep an eye on your SSA payments, per FOP President Pat Yoes, a one time retroactive payments are to start for those who are affected on February 24th and an increase in benefits will begin again as per the social security fairness act.
For those of you that are still active, the new Federal budget has passed with no Federal taxes to be taken out on public safety and medical personnel overtime wages. This was also pushed by the FOP!!

H.R. 82 Social Security Fairness Act passed the vote today in the House and now moves to the Senate. If it passes a vote in the Senate it will become law and will allow Public Safety retirees who retired under a private pension plan (I.e. the 3-2-1) will no longer get penalized and will then get full SSA benefits that they earned. Contact your Senator and let them know that you are for this!!

Brothers and Sisters of Gosport Lodge 20, this is a picture of Radford FOP Lodge 21’s building as a result of last week’s storm named Helene. While they have insurance on their building, they do not have flood insurance so their out of pocket is around $65,000. If you would like to help, please reach out to me.

There was a time when we thought the Traffic circle was just another excuse.. quotes from the Pilot about Willett Hall.

"In other business, the city recently spent $32,700 to evaluate the condition of Willett Hall, a performance venue that has received subsidies to stay open, to determine what it would cost to host Broadway shows there. "
"John Spencer, a project manager for The Livas Group, said it would cost $24.8 million to $33.5 million to renovate and add more square footage to the theater.
Mayor Kenny Wright asked about starting over.
"Just out of curiosity, did we ever look at what it would cost to nuke that thing and build a new" facility? Wright asked."

It is troubling that there are already layoffs to the Sheriff's Office. These lay offs are to sworn employees and civilian employees. Changes will be coming Police Department and will soon be noticeable, as well to the Fire Department.
The Blue line has been hit and hit hard.
To my Brothers and Sisters....HOLD THE LINE !!!!..... we will make change.

To all :
It is clear the anti public safety message the mayor and certain council members have sent to us. Million dollar cuts to Police, Fire, and the Sheriff have put the citizens welfare at risk along with each Officer, Deputy, and Firefighter 's welfare at risk. They have made comments like its not their problem, I say it is their problem because it is the citizens problem.
It is in my opinion these cuts are not necessary and will cripple our departments. It is my opinion that the funds are available and they are sitting in surplus in the school budget from this years budget.
I promise each of our members I will not give up in my pursuit to make this right.

This flag was made from fire hose and was given to our Sheriffs Office as a tribute to Public Safety. The FOP was informed today that the Sheriff has been ordered to remove it from the courthouse. This is heartbreaking.
