Happy Father’s Day!

Being a dad isn’t about biology, it can play a role, but it’s more about showing up. Today we’re thinking of all the men who chose to love and raise a kid. Dads, granddads, uncles, stepdads, foster and adoptive dads, and the ones who stepped in when a kid needed them.

Juneteenth - June 19, 1865

On this day, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It's the oldest known celebration of the end of slavery in the U.S.

Reminder: Tomorrow is Juneteenth. It is a national holiday and government offices, banks, and the post office will be closed.

It was not until December 6, 1865,?when the Thirteenth Amendment freed all slaves throughout the United States. The Emancipation Proclamation only freed slaves in the South.
