Officers Cavazos and Rodriguez, always ready and willing to help out

Update on this shy guy!

Portland Texas Animal Care Services went out to the Sports Complex yesterday but was unable to locate this big boy. As the evening went on, he returned to the Sports Complex, and this morning he was officially picked up and brought safely to the shelter.

He is now safe and sound. If this handsome big boy belongs to you, please contact the Portland Texas Animal Care Services as soon as possible at (361) 777-4444.

The City of Portland Police Department, in partnership with the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office, executed a narcotics search warrant resulting in multiple arrests. This investigation remains ongoing.

RBFCU, House of Rock, and ROCK 92/7 wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to Sergeant Laughlin who puts his heart into serving our community! For the last 11 years he has been the School Resource Officer at Gregory-Portland ISD, proving that mentorship is just as important as protection. After almost 27 years of service with the Gregory Portland Police Dept, his legacy isn't just in his service it’s in the students who are graduating today because he told them they could when they believed they couldn't.

We are so proud to honor him as this week’s First Responder who Rocks! Enjoy a night out at the House of Rock on us! 🤘

Telecommunicator Showcase: Allison Rodriguez. Allison is the newest member of our team, coming to Portland PD in November 2025. She brings 13 years of experience from Kingsville PD. She has been a wonderful addition to our group, adding her cheerful and positive attitude. Allison stays busy with a teenage daughter and lots of fun activities. We look forward to many more years working alongside her!

Telecommunicator Showcase: Hallie Harrison. Hallie began her career at Portland PD in June 2024. She came to us with previous dispatch experience from Oklahoma and Colorado. She came all this way to be with her fiance, now husband. Hallie will be moving back to Colorado soon and we're sure going to miss her. She says she'll miss us too, but not the heat and mosquitos. Such a genuinely sweet and kind person! We wish the newlyweds all the best in their life together in a much cooler, non-mosquito infested area of the country.

Telecommunicator Showcase: Christina Boudreaux. Christina started her career with Portland PD in April, 2024. She came to us with previous experience in dispatch and corrections both in Texas and her home state of Louisiana. Christina loves her family...no need to ask...she'll tell you all about them with pride and her famous big smile. Fun fact: Her son recently joined Portland PD as a Police Officer! We're happy they both call Texas and Portland PD their home now.

Telecommunicator Showcase: Denise Roy. Denise began her career with Portland PD in August, 2022 with previous experience from Cooke County, Refugio County and Corpus Christi PD. She has about 15 years total experience as a dispatcher! When she's not serving the citizens of Portland, she tends to her horses and chickens or she's crafting one-of-a-kind wood pieces. She's the handy one in our group....a broken chair won't stay broken for long in dispatch if Denise is around!

Telecommunicator Showcase: Ricky Chapa. Ricky began his career with Portland PD in March, 2022. He came to us with previous experience from Kingsville PD and Texas A & M University Kingsville. Altogether Ricky has about 19 years of experience in public safety communications. Ricky enjoys barbecuing and gaming. He loves being a cat dad!

Telecommunicator Showcase: Sandra Silva. Sandra began her career with Portland PD in February of 2022. She came to us with previous experience from Sugarland PD, Fort Bend County and CC International Airport. She was recently promoted to Lead Telecommunication Officer. Sandra is always smiling and loves to dance and spend time with her family Sandra is easily the biggest sports fan of our group. Catch her at a Rangers (NO! NO! NO! NOT RANGERS, SHE'S A DIEHARD, TRUEBLUE ASTROS FAN) game sometime...she'll be the one with the face paint yelling at the top of her lungs.
