Today's episode of Maine Calling is now available online! 🎙️

Our Executive Director, Kristina Egan, joined the conversation about Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and the role they can play in expanding housing options across Maine. The discussion explores the new Maine law for ADUs, the feasibility of ADU construction for homeowners, and how ADUs can contribute to addressing the state's housing challenges.

Tell us your thoughts about road safety in Portland, S**o and Scarborough!
We're conducting a survey as part of the Safe Streets for All demonstration project, which is a collaboration between the Greater Portland Council of Governments and the cities of Portland, S**o and Scarborough. Each city will install temporary road safety improvements in one key area to test functionality and gather public feedback before permanent changes are considered. The key areas are:

📍 Portland: Commercial St from Dana St to Franklin St.
📍 S**o: Main St from Water St to Cutts Ave
📍 Scarborough: Rte 1 from Hannaford Dr to Little Dolphin Dr

These projects may include temporary traffic calming measures, pedestrian safety improvements, and roadway design adjustments meant to improve safety and accessibility for all users. We're gathering community sentiment about the existing conditions before the installations are put in place, so please take this survey before it closes on June 19.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about what's working and what needs work in three key roadways in Portland, S**o and Scarborough.

This work is part of our Vision Zero efforts and includes the installation of temporary road safety improvements to test functionality and gather public feedback before permanent changes are considered. The Safe Streets for All Demonstration Project is a temporary installation of roadway safety improvements to test functionality and gather public feedback before permanent changes are considered. The project may include temporary traffic calming measures, pedestrian safety improvements, and roadway design adjustments meant to improve safety and accessibility for all users. The City of S**o Government is working with the Greater Portland Council of Governments on this effort, and we'll be holding an informational booth on June 4 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. in front of Town Hall. This booth will provide information and an opportunity for community members to learn more about the project, ask questions, and share feedback on the proposed safety improvements. There is also a public survey about current road conditions that we are asking road users to submit before June 19.
