Lisa's Little Free Library

Lisa's Little Free Library Lisa's Little Free Library (Charter #31778) is in southeast Portland, Oregon. What makes my Little Library special is the story of how it was built.

I moved to Portland in 2011, and I soon saw Little Free Libraries here and there, and I decided as soon as I owned my own home, I would put one in. In 2012, my dad, age 82 at the time, began battling cancer. After 2 1/2 years, he finally beat it, but the battle left him exhausted and without the urge to do all the little projects he'd always enjoyed. In trying to think of a way to help him get bac

k to enjoying life, I remembered my plan for the Little Free Library. I asked him to build one for me after I bought my house in the summer of 2015. He and my mom brought the library to me from California in October, and I had the Grand Opening on November 8, 2015. I hope the library will build a sense of community in our neighborhood.

Saturday Shelfie! The neighborhood has been doing a wonderful job of taking care of our Little Free Library. I noticed I got book bombed by somebody in Portland, those are the books with the stickers on the spines, so check them out! I just went through and tidied and added a few more books to freshen things up, but I haven't been having to dig into my stash very much lately because everyone has been so generous. Keep up the good work!
