OPEN HOUSE SPOTLIGHT: CREATIVE METAL ARTS GUILD

Meet the Creative Metal Arts Guild (CMAG), a community of metal artists, makers, metalsmiths, jewelers, sculptors, hobbyists, and business owners brought together by a shared passion for learning, creating, and supporting one another.

Based at their makerspace in SE Portland, CMAG offers classes and open studio sessions across a variety of metalworking skills.

At our Arts for All Community Open House, CMAG will bring metalworking to life with demonstrations of shaping and joining sheet metal and wire using a variety of tools and techniques.

Come see how it's made, and discover one of the many creative communities that make MAC special.

SAVE THE DATE: MULTNOMAH ARTS CENTER OPEN HOUSE: ARTS FOR ALL

On Friday, October 16, we’re opening the doors of the Multnomah Arts Center for an evening celebrating creativity, community, and our belief that the arts should be accessible to everyone.

From 6:00–8:00 PM, explore the MAC through hands-on experiences, demonstrations, performances, and opportunities to discover the artists, educators, guilds, and community partners who make this place so special.

We’re also excited to welcome the Community Music Center, Inc., who will join us in bringing music to the evening.

The Open House is being planned in conjunction with Art Design Xchange (ADX) and ADX Fest, a Portland-wide celebration of making and creativity that inspired us to think bigger about how we could celebrate arts learning and making across our community.

And we may have a few surprises beyond the walls of MAC, too.

That’s a wrap on Multnomah Days 2026!

What a wonderful day celebrating art, creativity, and community throughout Multnomah Village.

The Multnomah Arts Center joined the parade, welcomed families for hands-on creativity in the Kids Zone, showcased work from our talented community at the Arts & Crafts Sale, and partnered with Art Here to capture stories about why arts access matters to people across Portland.

Thank you to Multnomah Village Bus. Assoc. and Multnomah Neighborhood Association (MNA) for bringing our neighborhood together, to Art Here and all of our participating community partners, and to the incredible Portland Parks & Recreation staff and volunteers who helped make the day possible.

And most importantly, thank you to everyone who walked, created, shopped, shared a story, or simply stopped by to say hello. We loved celebrating Multnomah Days with you!

What's Your MAC Story?

For Yohko and her sons, a Family Clay class became much more than an afternoon of making art.

Two years ago, Yohko signed her sons up for Ms. Liz's Family Clay Class on a whim. She wasn't sure what to expect, but something clicked.

"My sons have Tic syndrome and ADHD. We tried various therapies, but nothing really helped. They focused on their work with surprising concentration and even tried talking to people. Ms. Liz treats them with so much love and never scolds them no matter what they do, so they've come to love creating art. She's helped them gain confidence, and we're truly grateful to her and her class."

Their creativity didn't stop in the classroom. Yohko and her sons began selling their pottery and handmade work together, including at several MACA art sales.

Thank you, Yohko, for sharing your family's story with us, and thank you to Ms. Liz for creating a space where young artists can explore, grow, and discover what they're capable of.

Now we'd love to hear your MAC story.

Has a class, instructor, friendship, or creative experience at MAC made a difference in your life? Tell us about it through the What's Your MAC Story? Share your story here: https://forms.gle/9ydsBrmb5J9w7EMt9.

Your story may be featured in a future Community Spotlight.
