Tips for introducing allergens:
• Be consistent: Offer small amounts regularly
• Offer variety: Try different foods, but not two brand‑new ones in the same meal
• Stay connected: Talk with your healthcare provider and WIC staff for support

¿Sabía que puede hacer algo para ayudar a prevenir que su bebé desarrolle alergias alimentarias? La evidencia demuestra que la introducción temprana de los principales alimentos alergénicos puede reducir significativamente el riesgo de alergias alimentarias en los niños.

Puede introducir alimentos alergénicos de forma segura al mismo tiempo que comienza a darle otros alimentos sólidos a su bebé. Para ello, siga pasos como los siguientes:

🔹 Sea constante: ¡Todo avance es un excelente comienzo! La clave es mantener la constancia y aumentar gradualmente la cantidad de cada alimento alergénico que consume su bebé.
🔹 Ofrezca mucha variedad: Si bien no es recomendable ofrecer dos alimentos nuevos en la misma comida, darle a su bebé la oportunidad de probar muchos alimentos distintos con el tiempo le permite experimentar diferentes sabores, texturas y nutrientes.
🔹 Mantenga al tanto a su equipo de atención médica y al equipo del WIC: hable con sus médicos y con el personal de la clínica del WIC sobre las alergias alimentarias desde temprano, incluso en las consultas del primer o tercer mes, o durante los controles del WIC. Fish is a delicious way to get more protein, omega‑3 fatty acids, and vitamin D! And good news: canned or pouched sardines, salmon, and tuna are WIC-approved foods for kids and adults.

Try these simple ways to add more fish to your meals:
• Spread on whole‑grain crackers with a squeeze of lemon and a drizzle of olive oil
• Mix with plain yogurt for a quick, creamy dip
• Stir in chopped celery, onions, or fresh herbs for extra crunch and flavor
• Add a splash of hot sauce and sprinkle with herbs for a zesty twist
