Home should never feel like a place where someone has to hide who they are.

During Pride Month, we’re reminding our communities that fair housing protections include sexual orientation and gender identity because everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and fully themselves where they live.

Housing is more than an address. It’s where people build routines, create community, celebrate milestones, and return to at the end of difficult days. Feeling accepted in that space should never come with conditions.

We’re here to connect Oregonians facing discrimination because of their sexual orientation or gender identity with support, education, and fair housing guidance.

To kick off both Fair Housing Month and Earth Month, on April 6th, 1000 Friends of Oregon () and the Fair Housing Council of Oregon hosted an interactive teach-in exploring the connections between fair housing, tenant organizing, and environmental justice.

Together, we tackled questions like, "What does the future of fair housing look like with so many current rights under threat?" and "How can we as a community continue to fight for a thriving Oregon for all?"

Big thanks to the Dear Portland exhibit, presented by Humans for Housing (), for hosting us in your space! 🙌
