On Sunday, our deputies answered a call we hope never happens. An officer from the Sandy Police Department had been shot during a domestic disturbance. The suspect barricaded himself inside a residence. Sandy Police later confirmed multiple people inside the home died in what is now being investigated as a homicide.

Our deputies and on-duty members of the East County Metro SWAT Team responded to provide assistance to both the Sandy Police Department and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office during this dynamic and dangerous incident. We are grateful that the injured officer is at the hospital recovering from their injuries — likely because of the heroic efforts of fellow officers, paramedics, and hospital personnel.

Our thoughts are with the recovering officer, the homicide victims, their families, the entire Sandy community. We are also thinking of the first responders who faced significant danger on Sunday. We offer our support and full assistance to Chief Patrick Huskey and the entire Sandy Police Department as they navigate the aftermath of this incident.

To the men and women who continue to serve and protect our communities each day—you have our respect and our gratitude.

Stay safe.

On Tuesday, May 19, while conducting patrol duties, Deputy Kaiser noticed a semi-truck driver who needed help navigating the Stark Street Bridge.

As many locals know, this bridge has been hit by several oversized trucks over the years, most recently in October 2025.

In many of these crashes, the drivers have relied on the routes their phone GPS apps provided. The bridge is closed to oversized vehicles, but phones and GPS devices don’t distinguish what type of vehicle is being used.

To prevent another crash, Deputy Kaiser pulled over the driver who was trying to get from the Historic Columbia River Highway side to Boring, Oregon, and used his patrol laptop to help them search for alternate routes.

This is not an isolated act of kindness and service. It's how Deputy Kaiser has shown up for each patrol shift since 1993. He has dedicated his career to protecting and uplifting Oregon communities --- always going above and beyond the call of duty.

It’s time for another , featuring our Reserve Motorcycle Stunt (RMS) Team performing at Jantzen Beach.

This historic footage shows former MCSO corrections and law enforcement deputies performing death-defying tricks. Their pyramid stunt was quite the nail biter!

While those who’ve worn our distinctive badge have changed throughout the decades, MCSO’s commitment to our mission of supporting all community members through exemplary public safety service remains our top priority.

We are looking forward to welcoming the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, Royal Canadian Navy, and other Fleet Week vessels that will be stationed along Portland's waterfront between Thursday, June 4 and Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Each year, our River Patrol Unit escorts visiting vessels through the Columbia to the Willamette for the week’s festivities.

We will have deputies on the water patrolling the perimeter and securing the waterways.

We thank the River Patrol Unit for diligently coordinating all these moving pieces.

“Our main purpose as Transit Police is to make sure that we’re on the system, keeping the ridership safe, keeping the employees of TriMet safe, and making sure that the system is always moving.”

We recently joined MCSO Lt. Moten with TriMet’s Transit Police on a high-visibility mission to address open drug use on or near TriMet property.

In between these high-visibility missions, our deputies and officers maintain a strong presence on TriMet buses, MAX lines, platforms and surrounding areas daily. They respond to calls for service and investigate crimes that occur on TriMet property.

We appreciate their efforts to supporting TriMet’s overall mission.

We recently honored Corrections Deputy Pomeroy's retirement after nearly 26 years of service.

A mentor, teammate, and leader — his legacy will stay with MCSO.

“Don’t lose your sense of humanity,” Deputy Pomeroy told attendees. “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.”

Congratulations on your retirement!

We have arrested two people after the driver of a stolen car is accused of deliberately ramming a patrol SUV.

Deputies arrived and positioned their vehicles behind the stolen car. Almost immediately, the situation escalated with the driver of the car starting the engine and ramming a patrol vehicle and hitting several other parked vehicles to escape.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Angel Bourdage, accelerated out of the parking lot and drove eastbound on Northeast Halsey Street, turning northbound on Northeast 238th Drive, where deputies executed a pre-authorized Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver to stop the vehicle near Interstate 84.
