Happy Labor Day! On this day celebrating workers and the unions who lift up workers, I'm excited to share that I'm running for re-election for OEA Vice President. After a full year in this role, I know that there is so much work to be done. I'm incredibly inspired by OEA members across our state who show up for our students and communities day in and day out, and I'm eager to continue to work alongside all y'all as we fight for a great public school for every student.

I got to spend a couple of days with the OCESP Council this weekend, and I always learn SO much in their company. Our Education Support Professionals are organized, engaged, and fighting for respect, safety, adequate training, and a living wage. I’m honored to work alongside these incredible member leaders!

This year at National Education Association RA we had the honor of hosting the delegation from the Egyptian Teachers Syndicate in our Oregon caucus. We learned a lot from each other during the time we spent together and both of our unions will be stronger because of this solidarity.

During NEA RA this year we took time to recognize and honor three OEA members who have had a large impact on both OEA and NEA. Our outgoing Brinda our outgoing NEA director, Jennifer who attended her 17th and final (for now) NEA RA, and Hannah who is ended her term as NEA’s Aspiring Educator Chair. Our members are making a difference every day and I’m proud to work alongside them.

I am so honored to have been elected as the next Vice President of the Oregon Education Association at the OEA Representative Assembly this weekend. I’m so thankful for the unwavering support of my local and for all the connections I’ve made with folks over the past several weeks.
