Panelist spotlight:
Tammy Molidor serves as Chief Operating Officer for The Oregon Clinic, one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest physician-owned specialty medical groups. Drawing upon more than 30 years of healthcare experience, she partners with physician and administrative leaders to advance organizational strategy, leading initiatives that strengthen performance, improve care delivery, and position the organization for continued success. Ms. Molidor's healthcare journey began at the front desk, checking in patients and gaining firsthand insight into the patient experience and day-to-day realities of healthcare operations. She progressed through a variety of roles that broadened her perspective across operations, revenue cycle management, strategic planning, organizational development, and process improvement. That experience, spanning the frontline and executive levels, has shaped her practical understanding of the complexities of physician-owned healthcare. Ms. Molidor earned her Master of Public Health from UCLA, where she was recognized with the Ann G. Quealy Memorial Fellowship.

Join us for Session 3 of our 2026 annual conference!

Independent physician practices across Oregon are facing unprecedented financial pressures. Rising labor costs, increasing administrative burdens, stagnant reimbursement, inflation, workforce shortages, and growing operational expenses are forcing many practices to make difficult decisions while continuing to meet the needs of their patients and communities.

This session will explore how practices are navigating today's economic realities and the innovative strategies they are using to remain sustainable. Through perspectives from clinicians and practice leaders, attendees will gain insight into the financial challenges affecting practices of all sizes, lessons learned from organizations that have adapted, and policy and operational changes that could help strengthen independent medicine for the future.

Rather than focusing solely on the challenges, this discussion will highlight practical approaches to improving financial resilience while preserving access to high-quality patient care.

Thank you to Brian Duty, MD, MBA, for your dedicated service as OMA’s president in 2025-2026! We are grateful for the time, commitment, and perspective Dr. Duty brought to this role and for his continued dedication to Oregon’s physicians, PAs, and the patients they serve.

Dr. Duty was honored at the OMA’s Annual Meeting on October 3 and is pictured here with recently installed OMA President Reva Ricketts-Loriaux, DO, and former Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber, MD.

On October 13, Governor Tina Kotek issued an executive order directing Oregon state agencies to take immediate steps to protect access to affordable healthcare, keep more Oregonians insured, and help stabilize the healthcare system in response to federal healthcare funding and policy changes. The order comes as Oregon prepares for impacts from federal Medicaid cuts and the expiration of enhanced health insurance subsidies.

In response to the order, OMA President Reva Ricketts-Loriaux, DO, said, “Chasing payments and competing program requirements add administrative burden that burns clinic resources and minimizes time spent between clinicians and patients. This EO takes important steps to reduce the administrative burden that drives patients away from care and clinicians out of practice.”

Congratulations to Grant Sutton for receiving OMA’s JEDI Award!

A third-year medical student at OHSU graduating in 2028, Grant was nominated for his commitment to furthering visibility and support for some of Oregon’s most disenfranchised communities. Grant grew up in West Linn but left to attend the University of British Columbia before returning to Oregon to pursue medicine. Even before medical school, he saw patients struggling to access and afford necessary healthcare at both the Knight Cancer Institute and at a local free clinic. This, in combination with his exposure to the Canadian healthcare system, led to his passion for advocating for universal healthcare for all patients. In this work, he has spoken to state and federal legislators, authored policy proposals for the OMA and Oregon Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP), co-chaired the Oregon chapter of Students for a National Health Program (SNaHP) and joined the national SNaHP team, and created a pre-clinical elective at OHSU on health system models.

Thank you, Grant, for all the important work that you are doing!

Congratulations to Bonnie Reagan, MD, RN, OMA's Doctor-Citizen of the Year!

Dr. Reagan received the award at our annual meeting on October 3 (pictured with OMA President Reva Ricketts-Loriaux, DO.) She was nominated for the Doctor-Citizen of the Year award not only for her many contributions during her medical career but also for her continuing and remarkable contributions to the community since retirement. While practicing, she was chair of the Portland Adventist Medical Center Ethics Committee and a member of the OHSU Task Force that helped form policy for the Oregon Death with Dignity Act. She was also on the Board of Physicians for Social Responsibility and the Oregon Academy of Family Physicians and was named the 2010 Oregon Family Doctor of the Year. After retirement, she co-founded BRAVO Youth Orchestras, a music program for underserved children and was the inaugural winner of the Jordan Schnitzer Wonder Award through the Oregon Symphony. Currently she serves on the Board of Directors of the Oregon Symphony, the Deans Council of PSU College of the Arts, and the Board of the American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon. She has traveled to interesting places, including Myanmar, Iran, Cambodia, Laos, the West Bank, Nepal, and the Canadian Arctic, where she was chased by a grizzly bear.

Dr. Reagan is proof that a life of service need not end with retirement from active practice.
