North Portland, you blew us away! An estimated 29,000 people joined us to celebrate Portland Sunday Parkways, presented by Kaiser Permanente Northwest, as we debuted our brand-new North Portland route and our first-ever event featuring Downtown St. Johns. Thank you for turning it into an unforgettable community celebration.

Seeing N Willamette Boulevard transformed into a car-free community space was one of the day’s most memorable moments for our team. Neighbors, families, and friends experiencing the new protected bikeway while connecting with one another showcased exactly what Sunday Parkways is all about.

Every stop along the route was buzzing with activity! Participants cooled off in the McCoy Park splash pad and joined in interactive drumming, got moving at Columbia Park’s fitness tent, laced up free roller skates with Rose City Rollers while DJ Doc Rock kept the party going at McKenna Park, and explored the open streets of Downtown St. Johns filled with local businesses, vendor booths, live music, and community organizations.

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers for making our longest route of the season possible, and to our sponsors, community partners, local businesses, vendors, entertainers, and everyone who helped create such a joyful day.

We’ll see you on September 13 for the Downtown Portland Sunday Parkways season finale!
