As many of you know, ALF Oregon is in the process of seeking and hiring its next leader. Our current ED, Sarah Greenman, will be with us through the summer and support the incoming ED's transition.

While Sarah is leaving her post as ED of ALF Oregon, she will remain as Board Chair of ALF National, where she has served on the board since 2022. Sarah has 18 more months of her term with ALF National before the next election.

Due to ongoing family health issues, Sarah Greenman is stepping away as Executive Director of ALF Oregon this summer. Please read her letter and a letter from the Board of Directors in our most recent newsletter: https://conta.cc/4bVJQ4B

We'll share more soon, but in the meantime, thank you to Sarah and the ALF Oregon Board for your incredible work during this leadership transition.

Sarah's Letter:

Dear Senior Fellows and Friends of ALF Oregon,

Thank you for supporting me and my son Charlie this fall while I was on family leave. The notes of encouragement, care packages, and texts buoyed me more than you’ll ever know. I will be forever grateful for the manner in which ALF Oregon embraced my family during Charlie’s health crisis and stewarded the organization during my leave.

Now that Charlie is home from the hospital, I have a much clearer picture of the future. Due to Charlie’s growing care needs and his difficult prognosis, I have come to the realization that I can no longer work full time.

I am leaving my position as Executive Director at ALF Oregon. My family needs me now. And I simply cannot continue to work full time and travel for work, as I do at ALF.

I’m heartbroken to leave a job I have so dearly loved. The next ED of ALF Oregon is stepping into a fabulous and fulfilling job at a thriving organization well-positioned for the future. It has been the honor of my life working with ALF Oregon. I am so grateful for the relationships I have gained in my time here, with wonderful leaders like each and every one of you. Thank you for all the ways you have been supportive of our work and of me.

A search committee has been formed by the Board of Directors. In the meantime, I will stay on as ED through July 2026. In order to aid the team and the board through this transition, I will be here through REUNION 2026, final programming and graduation for Class 47, seating and announcing Class 48, completing the fiscal year, and to offer any other assistance I can lend to the board, staff, supporters, and of course, my successor. And depending on the needs of the organization, I may also continue to work with ALF Oregon in a support and consulting capacity.

I am, and always will be, dedicated to ALF Oregon as a Senior Fellow and I am personally invested in the organization's success. I hope to see you at our 40th Anniversary Reunion on Wednesday May 13th!

With deep gratitude,
Sarah Greenman
