Plants and possibilities are sprouting! Thank you to our partners Growing Gardens for leading a container gardening class just in time for summer produce. 🌱

“Container gardening can make gardening accessible to anybody,” says Sia, a Growing Gardens instructor. “We’re meant to be around plants and they’re meant to be around us. This makes it possible in urban and apartment environments.”

Participants planted and took home strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, and more. Shaney, our Homeowner Education and Support Coordinator, made pico de gallo to show how plants from class can be used in tasty meals.

Our homeownership education classes are free and open to the public! Find upcoming opportunities with the link below.

We were honored to join the 2026 in Atlanta! Our very own Director of Volunteer Engagement, Liz Connor, and Deputy Director of Construction Programs, Jesse Withers, spent a week helping build 24 new homes alongside future homeowners and over 1000 volunteers.

“Participating in the Carter Work Project made Habitat’s mission feel incredibly tangible and personal,” says Jesse. This year marked the 40th Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project — a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we unite around a common goal.

A huge thank you to Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Lake Oswego United Methodist Church 💙 They recently came together to assemble Welcome Home kits for future homeowners at West Lake Grove.

Filled with thoughtful essentials, including fleece blankets and toiletries, these baskets will help 23 households feel comfortable and cared for as they settle into their new homes.

We are grateful to both church communities for showing up in such a generous way!

We were excited to welcome City of Gresham - Government leaders to Myrtlewood Way this week! Mayor Travis Stovall, Council President Cathy Keathley, and Councilor Sue Piazza got a firsthand look at the progress taking shape.

These 20 new homes, with 3-, 4-, and 5-bedroom floor plans, will help families put down roots and build stability. Volunteers are still hard at work on interior trim, doors, and finishing details. When complete later this year, more than 80 people will call this community home.

This development represents partnership at every level. The land was purchased through federal American Rescue Plan Act funding with support from Representative Zach Hudson and Senator Chris Gorsek. Construction has been made possible through Metro Housing Bond funding via the City of Gresham and LIFT funding through the State of Oregon — alongside hundreds of volunteers and donors who have invested their time, resources, and belief in affordable homeownership.

Together, we’re building lasting opportunity in Gresham!

🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

We've received multiple reports of scammers falsely using Habitat for Humanity's name. We have not had a data breach, but we want to warn our community about these scams, including:

• Fake social media ads offering free roofing, window, or gutter repairs.
• Contractors going door-to-door claiming to represent Habitat Home Repair.
• Individuals misrepresenting themselves as Habitat employees.

⚠️ Here's the truth:

• Habitat does NOT advertise free home repairs on social media.
• Habitat does NOT go door-to-door or proactively approach homeowners for repair services.
• All legitimate Home Repair projects begin when a homeowner applies directly through our program.

How to protect yourself:
• Never provide personal information or payment based on social media ads or unsolicited text messages.
• Report suspicious ads using the platform's reporting tool or send us a screenshot.
• If you're unsure about a program, contact us directly at 503-287-9529.

We're saddened that scammers are using our trusted name to target our community. Please help us spread the word and keep everyone safe 💙

If you've encountered this scam, report it to local authorities and the Oregon Department of Justice.

Thank you to Christ Church Episcopal Parish! Together with Core and daily volunteers, they helped raise a wall at Twenty Fifth Terrace in SW Portland.

This work is part of Pope Leo Village — a multi-city campaign inspired by Pope Leo XIV’s commitment to justice and service. What makes this effort so special is the way it brings together people across faiths, identities, and generations, united by a shared belief that everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home.

Thanks to the vision and generosity behind this campaign, and the dedication of partners like Christ Church Episcopal Parish Lake Oswego Oregon, more people in the Portland region will have the opportunity to achieve affordable homeownership.

If you’re inspired by this mission, we invite you to be part of it - https://habitatportlandregion.org/donate/popeleovillage/
