Coastal Plains Community Center provides behavioral health services people who have a diagnosis of mental illness, youth with behavioral health issues and people with a diagnosis of intellectual and developmental disabilities. The services to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities are based on individual needs and designed for people to live and work successfully in their communi
ties. Our focus is on community-based services to provide education, training, and support to help people live as independently as possible in the community. Coastal Plains Community Center provides mental health services to children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances and adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe clinical depression. Crisis services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week for all people in the service area who feel they need assistance with a behavioral health crisis. These services may be accessed through a Crisis Hotline at 1-800-841-6467. All information about services received is strictly confidential. Mental Illness is a term describing a group of disorders that cause severe disturbances in thinking, feeling and relating. Symptoms may last weeks, months or years. But, mental illness is a treatable disease. With early identification and new treatment approaches the success rate can be high. Coastal Plains Community Center also has integrated health and substance abuse treatment in our Alice, Beeville, Falfurrias, Kingsville and Taft offices.
