Anniversaries invite reflection. They remind us that democracy is strongest when every community member has the opportunity to be heard and feels they belong.

As we celebrate 250 years of the United States, the Oregon Advocacy Commissions Office reaffirms its commitment to fostering inclusive public participation and ensuring all Oregonians, including systemically excluded and institutionally oppressed communities, help shape the decisions that affect their lives.

It's Pride Month, when we gather to celebrate and honor our Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and Two-Spirit communities (LGBTQIA2S+).

Pride emerged from the Stonewall Uprising in 1969. The intersectional fight to amplify q***r voices and LGBTQIA2S+ rights is inspired and stronger than ever, thanks to activists like Black, gender-nonconforming, feminine-presenting, politically engaged activist, Marsha P. Johnson, who sparked early movements.

Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit individuals, and people experience disproportionate levels of violence and trauma. The National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People is an urgent call to support Tribal governments' and communities’ efforts to increase awareness and address the issues of missing or murdered Indigenous people. We hold space for our Indigenous families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
