The Oregon Geriatric Education Center (OGEC) is dedicated to improving the care of older adults in Oregon through collaborative, interdisciplinary, continuing education and professional development. The OGEC is a consortium of key faculty and staff from the following institutions:
Oregon Health & Science University Schools of Nursing and Medicine
Oregon State University Extension Service and Colle

ge of Pharmacy
Portland State University Institute on Aging and School of Social Work

A key strength of the OGEC consortium is the diversity of its multi-disciplinary team. Consortium members bring together geriatric expertise in nursing, medicine, pharmacy, social science and health care policy. By the year 2040, the population of adults in Oregon aged 60-74 will increase by approximately 130%. The estimated population of adults aged 75 and older will increase by 170%. The state of Oregon has few board certified geriatricians to provide care to this growing population. The OGEC is dedicated to the preparation of health professionals and service providers to optimally care for older adults.
