Last week, I was proud to join Governor Tina Kotek for a bill signing ceremony celebrating legislation that will help Oregonians tackle our housing affordability crisis. While communities big and small across Oregon are facing different housing affordability challenges, one thing is clear - we need to be building more homes in every community across the state that are affordable and accessible to Oregonians at all ages, wages and stages of life.

Proud to join this group of community leaders, advocates, and legislators at Governor Tina Kotek's immigrant justice bill signing yesterday hosted by IRCO Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization. Together we organized and passed a slate of policies that make Oregon an even safer and welcoming home for all our neighbors. ๐ŸŽ‰

In the face of authoritarianism, Oregon will not let violence against our communities and violations of our Constitution go unchecked. We will protect us and come through the other side of this together.

Deep gratitude to the dedicated community of advocates and policymakers including Rep Jones Isadore and Rep Tran, who helped pass House Bill 4100, which ensure polluters, not taxpayers, are liable for any cleanup and remediation at their oil terminals after an earthquake or a natural disaster. The Critical Energy Infrastructure hub in Portland houses 90% of fuel used in our entire state, and this is an important step forward in a multi-step process to protect all our communities.

Every one of the 33 days of the recent 2026 legislative session was non-stop pushing for the best possible outcomes I could deliver for our state and my community. I don't take this responsibility lightly, especially when the stakes of this moment are so high. We don't always get the results we want, but I leave it all on the field.

Here's a snapshot of highlights from this session that I championed alongside my colleagues, with advocates, and community. I am proud of the work we accomplished this session, and looking forward to taking our next steps together towards the Oregon I know we can build.

SB 1521 provides greater flexibility and more stringent funding requirements for inclusionary zoning programs in the greater Portland area.

This is a bipartisan victory ensuring Oregon continues to build more homes available to a wider range of income levels.

After 6 sessions, I still feel awed to get to participate in this 250 year old experiment in democracy. Our democratic institutions are not a given, and we must fight to protect them, however imperfect. In these short 5 weeks, we advanced key policies on housing, immigrant rights and democracy defense. We have much more work ahead of us, and I'll share more in coming weeks. Thank you for trusting me to do this work on behalf of the people of Oregon.

๐ŸŽ‰ Celebrating and sharing gratitude for the hard work of so many of my colleagues to get key bills from our democracy defense agenda across the finish line today. I was proud to be a chief sponsor the Strengthening Patient and Provider Privacy Act (HB 4088), Protect Your Door Act (HB 4114), Law Enforcement Accountability and Visibility Act (HB 4138), and Anti-Discrimination Protections for Immigrant Workers (HB 4111) which all passed the Senate today and now head to the Gov for her signature!

These bills will make Oregonians safer and provide more protections from Federal overreach and attacks on our civil liberties. Thank you to the advocates and community members whose stories and engagement anchor our work and drive our urgency.
