Here is our Health & Hygiene schedule for the week.
🚿We will be at PDX Saints Love Day Center and El Jardín Recovery Center (Hillsboro) on Tuesday the 1st; WeShine Village and El Jardín Recovery Center (Portland) on Wednesday the 2nd; PDX Saints Love Day Center and Freedom Foursquare Church on Thursday the 3rd; and All Saints Episcopal on Saturday the 5th.
🧼Resources at all sites will be from 11 am - 2 pm. We will have showers, clean clothing, and hygiene products.
🚿The stationary hygiene hub located at Cultivate Initiatives (14625 SE Stark St.) is also open Monday through Friday this week, offering showers, hygiene resources, and laundry services. Those operating hours are 10:30 am - 3 pm Monday and Friday, and 9:30 am - 2 pm Tuesday-Thursday.
🩺 Our mobile health volunteers are on a pause this week, as our partnered nursing schools are on break. We will be welcoming a new cohort soon!
🫧Thank you to the Homeless Services Department for funding that helps to make these programs possible!

Here in Multnomah County, people experiencing homelessness are 40 times more likely to die from an overdose than the general population. In 2024, 214 of the 372 people who died while homeless in our county lost their lives to overdose. These aren’t statistics. They’re villagers, friends, and neighbors.

At WeShine, we believe compassion saves lives. Substance use is a health issue, not a moral failing, and stigma only pushes people further from help. Harm reduction, naloxone access, and stable transitional shelter give people a real chance to survive and heal.

One hopeful sign: overdose deaths in our county dropped for the first time in over a decade last year. Harm reduction works.

If you or someone you love is struggling, you deserve support, not shame.
