At the Porterville Fire Department, training is a top priority. Every month, our crews come together to focus on a specific training topic to sharpen their skills and ensure they are prepared to serve our community.

Last month, our crews participated in auto extrication training instructed by our Auto Ex Cadre. Crews emphasized quick stabilization techniques, dash lifts/rolls, tenting maneuvers, B-post blowouts, and roof removals. These hands-on training evolutions help ensure our firefighters are prepared to safely and efficiently rescue victims trapped in vehicles during emergencies.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Wallace Towing for allowing us to use their tow yard and vehicles for this valuable training.

Meet Connor Fabing, a Firefighter with the Porterville Fire Department since 2022! 🚒

For Connor, the best part of the job is seeing training and teamwork come together to serve the community when it matters most. Being there for people during some of their most challenging moments is what makes the profession so meaningful. He also values working alongside dedicated, like-minded individuals and says the strong sense of camaraderie among the crew is what makes this career the best.

Outside of work, Connor enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and daughter. Together, they love traveling, camping, and fishing. Connor is also committed to coaching high school baseball and takes pride in making a positive impact on the lives of his players both on and off the field.

Today, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, The Porterville Fire Department will be conducting a live fire training burn in the area of Jaye St and Montgomery Ave off of HWY 190.

Please be advised that a significant amount of smoke may be visible in the area during this training exercise, which is a vital part of our program designed to give firefighters real-world experience in a safe, controlled environment.

The Porterville Fire Department is proud to recognize Firefighter Damon Noe as the City of Porterville Employee of the Month for June.

Damon consistently demonstrates professionalism, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to serving our community. Whether responding to emergencies, participating in training to maintain peak readiness, or supporting his fellow firefighters, he exemplifies the values and mission of the Porterville Fire Department.

Fittingly, Damon was unable to attend last night's Employee of the Month recognition ceremony at the City Council meeting because he was doing what he does best, serving the citizens of Porterville on an emergency call. While he may have missed the ceremony, his absence was a powerful reflection of the selfless service and dedication that earned him this recognition.

For Andrew, one of the most rewarding parts of the job is being able to serve the community while working alongside a crew that feels like family. He enjoys the constant training and challenges that come with the fire service, and finds it rewarding to know the work they do can make a difference during someone’s worst moments.

Outside of work, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and their new baby, hunting, working out, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
