Today, the City of Porterdale pauses to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We pay tribute to the victims, first responders, military members, and everyday heroes whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire our nation.
As we reflect on this day, let us come together in remembrance, gratitude, and unity. May we never forget the strength, resilience, and compassion that emerged in the face of tragedy.

Labor Day Office Closure Notice

The City of Porterdale offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

🚧 GDOT Roadwork – Hwy 81 🚧

The Georgia Department of Transportation is currently performing maintenance on Hwy 81 near City Hall. The road remains open, but traffic will be periodically diverted or stopped for short intervals to ensure safety during the work.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as GDOT is working to improve your roadway. Please drive with caution in the work zone.

Rivers Alive Cleanup..

Join us on Saturday, September 19 for our 2026 Rivers Alive event! Gather friends and family and help us clean up lakes, rivers, and streams around Newton County. Keep Newton Beautiful will provide free cleanup supplies, breakfast, and t-shirts (while supplies last). We will meet cleanup participants at Longhorn Steakhouse of Covington for breakfast and supply distribution at 9 a.m. After breakfast, teams will head out to cleanup sites to pick up litter in and around waterways.
