Portal Rescue invites our community to join us for a Community Learning Day on Saturday, October 3 from 2–4 PM (AZ time) at the Portal Rescue Classroom, 1216 Portal Road.
Our EMTs and firefighters will share practical, potentially life-saving information about calling 911, preparing for different types of emergencies, recognizing signs of stroke, heart attack and heat illness, managing a snake bite, and understanding what our local emergency responders can—and cannot—do.
This is also a great opportunity to learn more about how Portal Rescue serves our rural community and how you can get involved.
Free and open to the community. Come learn, ask questions, and be better prepared before an emergency happens.

Dear Community,

There are still afternoon appointments available for the September 17th blood drive. You can schedule at Redcross.org (find a drive, zip code 85632, Portal).

The drive is held in the Portal Rescue Classroom with check-in in the EMS Bay. Walk-ins will be easily accommodated in the afternoon between Noon and 2:45pm AZ (1-3:45pm NM)

Donors at this drive will receive an exclusive American Red Cross + Hello Kitty collectable bag full of goodies!

Thanks to our wonderful sponsors like you, and our donors who came out in force, we have climbed out of the blood crisis. Blood is needed every 2 seconds in this country, and most blood stays local for local need first!

Thank you for your participation!

The U.S. Forest Service joins family members, friends, colleagues and the entire wildland fire community in mourning the loss of three wildland firefighters who died Saturday, June 27, as part of an interagency response to the Knowles and Gore fires along the Colorado-Utah border. Two additional firefighters sustained injuries and are in our thoughts as they receive medical care.

We extend our unwavering support to the families of the fallen, the injured firefighters, and their fellow crew members during this difficult time.

We stand with the U.S. Wildland Fire Service and our interagency partners in honoring the dedication, professionalism, and sacrifice of these firefighters. Their commitment to protecting the public, communities, and natural resources exemplifies the highest ideals of public service.

An interagency review and investigation of the incident is ongoing. Additional details will be shared as they are able to be released.

The final tally for Bowls and Spoons 2026 is in! As a result of the generous support of all of our sponsors, volunteers, cooks, bakers, raffle ticket buyers, auction bidders, and attendees, we raised $9,171!

100% of the proceeds directly cover the operating costs of Portal Rescue. Your generosity honors the amazing community members who stop whatever they are doing and come to the aid of any of us in need.

Special thanks to Marilyn Forestell, who once again organized a fun and rowdy group to make the event a success! Thank you again, everyone, and see you next year!
