PORTAGE TOWNSHIP ASSESSOR'S OFFICE is currently closed due to the power outage.
If you have severe damage to your home you can visit us when we open back up and fill out a 137R disaster form.
I will forward it onto the County Assessor's Office. Send as many pictures you can of the damage.
Temporary OBS (obsolescence, a reduced amount) can be applied to your assessment based on the damage).

Click on assessor, then the tab on the left, forms, and then click on property destroyed by Disaster.

Since 2023, the Portage Township Assessor's Office has recovered approximately $8 million in previously unreported or undervalued business personal property, helping ensure all businesses pay their fair share and reducing the burden on homeowners and small businesses."

Despite those results, my office has faced criticism over the cost of conducting this work. My belief is simple: you get what you pay for. Investing in thorough, professional assessment services protects taxpayers, strengthens the tax base, and promotes fairness by ensuring that everyone is paying what the law requires—not more, and not less.

Here's my last fundraiser for this election.
I would really love to see homeowners and small business owners there to ask questions and adress concerns. Donation is not necessary as there will a lot of our politicians there and you can speak to any of them and address your concerns.

If there's one thing I've learned being in politics now....Even in off election years we need to hold elected officials to these standards. Actually get out on election day and do something when they don't.
