The AZO ARFF Crew is wishing Chief Paul Vosburg the best of luck on his new endeavors today! After 10+ Years of service to AZO and 38+ years in the Fire Service, he has retired and moved on to a new adventure. Chief, we all wish you the best of luck and couldn't thank you enough for all you have done for us. It has truly been an honor to serve with you!

Exciting News: Air Fair 2025 Has Community Partners!

We’re thrilled to announce that this year’s Air Fair is taking off with the generous support of our Community Partners! These local companies have donated at four sponsorship levels—Blackhawk, Embraer 170, Cirrus Jet, and Cessna 172—to help make the event even more fun for families and kids!

One of our favorite things here at AZO is getting to bring the community together. Last Friday we were visited by a local MOP (Mothers of preschoolers) group. We had a blast giving this great group a tour around our facilities. Thanks so much for stopping by! ✈️

Today, several of our members made a trip down to the South Bend International Airport to take part in their annual Live...

Today, several of our members made a trip down to the South Bend International Airport to take part in their annual Live/Hot Fire Training as required of all ARFF personnel by the FAA. We practiced using hand lines to extinguish liquid fuel fires around an aircraft fuselage and maintaining a rescue/evacuation path for survivors. The AZO Crew would like to thank our brothers at SBN Public Safety for their hospitality and the University of Notre Dame Fire Department for sending a Structural Fire Engine to assist.

This evening, B-Shift had a surprise visit from two firefighters from very far away. Thēo (left) a firefighter in France and Felix (right) a firefighter in Germany visited with Firefighter Gray (center) who showed them around our station and apparatus. It's great to meet brother firefighters and this was a real treat to meet brothers from another country and compare how things are done. Both gentlemen were excited to see our Rosenbauer (a European fire apparatus manufacturer) Panther Crash Truck and to see that we wear European-style fire helmets here at the airport (Though a traditional-style American Leather Helmet was brought out for comparison 😉) Thank you gentlemen for the visit and conversation.
