Port Wentworth officially welcomed VyStar Pavilion and Ghost Pirates Ice Cove to the community with ribbon cutting ceremonies at 912 Community Day. The celebration brought neighbors together for a day of live music, family activities, games and free open skating.
This moment was almost four years in the making. It took a public-private partnership with Zawyer Sports, Oak View Group, and naming rights support from VyStar Credit Union. The dedication of the City staff, our partners, and the construction and engineering teams was instrumental in bringing this vision to life.
We are so proud to see this new destination officially open its doors to the people who call Port Wentworth home.
Ice Cove Arena, now the official practice rink for the Savannah Ghost Pirates, filled the ice with skaters, Jr. Ghost Pirates and Sirens exhibitions and figure skating performances, while VyStar Pavilion buzzed with music, a petting zoo, games, local vendors and even a mechanical bull.
It was wonderful to see so many families exploring the facility together, from little ones visiting the petting zoo to entire families lacing up skates for the very first time.
A heartfelt thank you to the local businesses and support services who joined us as vendors to help make the day feel like a true community celebration and to the Oak View Group, Zawyer Sports and City teams who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring 912 Community Day to life. We could not have celebrated this milestone without you.
This is just the beginning for Anchor Park.
