Family Promise of Ozaukee County

Family Promise of Ozaukee County Our mission is to provide services to help stabilize Ozaukee County homeless children and families. Helping homeless families achieve independence.

OUR MISSION: Provide services to help stabilize Ozaukee County homeless children and families. The Vision of Family Promise of Ozaukee County, Inc is to assist homeless families, who find themselves at a difficult crossroad in their lives, to achieve lasting self-reliance. Our goal is to build a strong, self-sustaining interfaith hospitality network (IHN) program to fulfill our mission. Providin

g church congregations with local service activities. Creating initiatives that meet community needs. Giving people of all ages meaningful volunteer opportunities. Building public awareness of homelessness and needs of low-income people. Family Promise Ozaukee is an interfaith network of churches in Ozaukee County who are coming together to provide homeless children and their families with shelter, basic needs and assistance as they seek permanent housing. By utilizing what already exists in the community, Family Promise is able to move more than 75% of the families it serves not just into homes, but into sustainable housing that they can keep, at the fraction of the cost of a traditional shelter. In this way, we are able to change the future for children who are homeless, as well as provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers as they house, feed, encourage, and interact with the children and families. In response to homelessness for children and families, an interfaith hospitality network brings the faith community together to help families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity. Family Promise of Ozaukee County is a partnership of congregations within a community helping families who are facing homelessness. It offers an opportunity for volunteers of all faiths to reduce homelessness and transform lives. Nationally, Family Promise is currently operating in 41 states and the District of Columbia...in large cities, suburbs, and rural counties. They mobilize community resources: houses of worship for lodging, congregations for volunteers, social service agencies for assessment and referrals, and existing facilities for day programs. This strategy enables networks to help homeless families achieve lasting independence at a third of the cost of traditional shelters.

Nonprofits supporting other nonprofits! 🙌

We had a blast volunteering at the Milwaukee Brewers ⚾️ game in support of Casa Guadalupe Multicultural Center Our team spent the evening working concessions at the nacho bar, serving fans while helping raise funds for an organization that does incredible work in our community.

There's something special about nonprofits coming together to support one another. It was a fun night filled with teamwork, community spirit, and plenty of nachos to share😋

We are thrilled to share that the Hobbs Family has secured housing through our Rapid Rehousing Program!

The Hobbs Family came to Family Promise after being prioritized through the Balance of State Coordinated Entry System. Prior to entering the program, they had been living in their vehicle and then briefly staying in a shelter while searching for a safe and stable place to call home.

In May, that search came to an end! The family has moved into an apartment where they can begin rebuilding, settling in, and focusing on the future. For these hard working parents, both of whom are enrolled in school full-time and their four children, housing offers the opportunity to take a deep breath and focus on their goals without the constant uncertainty of homelessness.

Over the next year, the family will continue working closely with their Case Manager to strengthen their housing stability, build financial security, and work toward long-term self-sufficiency.

Family Promise is honored to be part of their journey and extends a warm welcome home to the Hobbs Family. We look forward to celebrating their continued growth and success in the months ahead! 🏠❤️

A huge thank you to Partners with Paws for joining our all-staff meeting and sharing such valuable information with our team! 🐾

Special shoutout to our amazing student intern, Mod, for leading a detailed and engaging presentation on the differences between service animals, therapy animals, and emotional support animals.

We appreciate the opportunity to learn more about how animals can provide support, comfort, and accessibility within our communities 💙

With rising gas prices, many of the families we serve are struggling to get to work, school, childcare, appointments, and housing opportunities. Family Promise is currently in need of gas card donations and accepting donations to help support our households during this time. Every gift, big or small, makes a difference in helping families stay on the road toward stability ⛽️❤️

Family Promise of Ozaukee County is thrilled to share Ron’s story as he begins a new chapter through our Rapid Re-housing Program.
Ron, who is medically disabled and receives SSDI, had his identity stolen three years ago. As a result, he lost his income and was evicted from his home. Over the past three years, Ron experienced homelessness, surviving on the streets and seeking shelter wherever he could including dumpsters, cardboard boxes, and emergency shelters.
On Friday, Ron signed the lease for his very own apartment. For the first time in years, he and his sweet pup, Pumpkin, were able to spend the weekend safe, warm, and in a place, they now get to call home. Over the next year, Ron will continue working closely with his Case Manager to regain stability, rebuild his confidence, and set up a foundation for long-term housing success.
We could not be happier for Ron and Pumpkin, and we look forward to supporting them as he adjusts to this new beginning.
