This is Fire Prevention Week! Recognized nationally since 1925, it is the nation’s longest-running public health observance. Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing daily fire safety tips and visiting our elementary school students to talk about fire prevention and safety. We’ll wrap up the week on October 11th with our Fire Prevention Open House and the Grand Opening of the new Public Safety Building. We hope to see you there!

We’re just one week away from the Grand Opening of our new Public Safety Building! It’s exciting to finally welcome the community into a project that has been more than a year in the making.

The event begins at 9:00 AM at the main entrance with a building dedication, followed by the Police and Fire Departments’ Annual Open House.

This year’s open house will feature some great special guests and displays, including a Black Hawk helicopter from the Air National Guard, a U.S. Coast Guard rescue boat, and apparatus from the Ozaukee County HazMat and Special Response Teams. Ascension’s pre-hospital team will also be joining us with a GIANT Operation game.

At 11:00 AM, the Wisconsin Fire Sprinkler Association will conduct a live fire sprinkler demonstration, and the Milwaukee Fire Bell will be serving refreshments courtesy of C.D. Smith.

Parking will be available at Harbor Hills Recreation Center and Eernisse Funeral Home. A big thank-you to both for allowing us to use their lots!

Just now (9/28) the Belgium Fire Department has requested MABAS BOX 7-11 to the FIRST ALARM level for a structure fire at 244 S Royal Ave in the Village of Belgium.

Agencies responding to the request are from:

Fredonia Fire Department
Waubeka Fire Department
Port Washington Fire/Rescue
Ozaukee Central Fire Department
Cedar Grove Fire Department and First Responders
Random Lake Fire Department

After more than 30 years away, Engine 462 is back home in Port Washington.

This 1950 Seagrave pumper served our community until 1992. After it was retired, it found a home at the Venerable Fire Collection in Slinger. Thanks to the members of the Port Washington Fire/EMS Association, Engine 462 was purchased and brought back to Port Washington, where it now has a permanent home in our new Public Safety Building. It will be on display along the east side of the building, visible from Highway LL and lit up each night.

A huge thank you to the Venerable Fire Collection for taking such great care of it for all these years. We’re excited to have this piece of our department’s history back where it belongs.
