This has been a difficult year for Post 26. The Lord has called home multiple warriors from our ranks, and it is with heavy hearts that we share another loss to our community.
With the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, we regret to announce that our honorable and loyal Legionnaire, Elk, veteran advocate, and community member David Harrah was called home last night.
Dave made a lasting impact on all of us. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion, the Elks Lodge, the Rakers, Kiwanis and his Kala Point homeowners association. He was a familiar face throughout Port Townsend, always making his rounds to check in on friends and neighbors. His commitment to service never wavered.
Many knew Dave as the proud bearer of the American Flag during the Rhody Festival Parade and at our Memorial Day ceremonies. He stood as a symbol of patriotism, service, and community spirit.
This is a devastating loss for our organizations, our community, and the many friends whose lives Dave touched through his generosity, kindness, and endless dedication to those around him.
We invite everyone to join us on

As we gather to remember and honor Mr. David Harrah and celebrate a life devoted to service, friendship, and community.
Anyone who knew Dave also knew one thing: he never missed a meal at the American Legion. We often joked that he could smell food cooking at the Legion all the way from Kala Point because, like clockwork, he would appear whenever a meal was being served. It became one of the many things we loved about him.
On July 19th, we will feast the way Dave always feasted with us—sharing good food, good company, and great memories.
Dave Harrah, you will be greatly missed. We are grateful that great men like you walked among us and that we had the privilege of sharing life with you.
Rest easy, Legionnaire. We have the watch.
