A big thank you to America’s Home Place for hosting a First Responders Appreciation Luncheon this past Saturday to show their support for Gulf County’s first responders! 🚑

It was a great afternoon of good food and fellowship, with six departments represented.

We’re so grateful for the men and women who serve and protect our communities, and we appreciate America’s Home Place for taking the time to recognize them and say thank you.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has announced the closure of the 2026 recreational bay scallop harvest season in the Gulf County Zone, including St. Joseph Bay.

The closure follows a summer survey that found very low bay scallop abundance in the area. The closure is intended to help support the recovery of the local scallop population and future harvest seasons.

Fishing, boating and swimming remain open in the area.
